Blendology, a technology company from Great Cambourne, Cambridge took first place at the Technology Venture Conference 2012 to win a
suite of prizes, including support and advice from KPMG worth over £10,000.
Blendology beat out competition from 17 entrants to scoop the prize last month after impressing a panel of five global investors and technology specialists. The company, which makes unique branded ‘gadgets’ which enable event organisers to connect, engage and interact with their customers in real-life and online, was only established last year and was awarded the Most Promising Start-up 2012 at the Conference, organised
by Cambridge University Technology and Enterprise Club (CUTEC).
Bill Munday, CEO of Blendology, gave a compelling three minute pitch where he presented the Company’s solutions, commercial traction and funding requirements and concluded with an engaging question and answer exchange with the investors.
Mr Munday commented “We were very pleased to be selected to exhibit in the Technology Start-up Showcase at TVC2012, and there was great interest in our ‘tap-to-connect’ devices and solutions. We also gained valuable feedback from all those who stopped by our stand. We are very excited about our interactive event solutions and confident in the future success of Blendology, but we really did not expect to win the competition and receive such a great prize.”
Charles le strange Meakin, Technology Partner at KPMG in Cambridge, who was one of the panel members said : “In these current economic times it’s absolutely essential that businesses find ways to bring new innovative technology to the market in order to fuel our economic growth. Having access to professional advice around issues such as business modelling, how to capitalise on valuable tax reliefs and how to access funding in a really tough environment, can be invaluable to a start-up looking to create something amazing.
“I am hugely excited about working with Blendology at the beginning of what will hopefully be a successful and wealth and job creating
business.”
Blendology’s prize award includes: £10,000 worth of consultancy from KPMG, £3,000 worth of legal advice from SNR Denton, mentorship with Springboard founder Jon Bradford, six month free membership at ideaspace, Cambridge, one year free access to Zip Cars, and crystal globe trophy.
