Cambridge Judge hosts biotech-focused Boot Camp

On 22 February Cambridge Judge will host the biotech-focused Boot Camp for Pitch@Palace, convened by HRH The Duke of York, KG.

The “Boot Camp” for the fifth Pitch@Palace event convened by HRH The Duke of York, KG will be held on 22 February, hosted by Cambridge Judge Business School and focusing on biotech, and applications are now open from interested enterprises. The daylong event is taking place at the Wellcome Genome Campus in Hinxton, just outside Cambridge.

This is the first time a Pitch@Palace Boot Camp will take place outside of London, and the event will help showcase the thriving biotech and entrepreneurial communities in Cambridge.

“Cambridge Judge Business School is very excited to host the Boot Camp for Pitch@Palace, and we’re delighted that biotech was selected as the theme given its importance to the Cambridge area,” said Christoph Loch, Director of Cambridge Judge. “The Duke of York has been a loyal supporter of Cambridge Judge, and we thank him for bringing this terrific event to Cambridge.”

The Boot Camp will provide 42 biotech entrepreneurs the opportunity to hear from industry experts and receive mentoring, and the event will also select 12 to 15 entrepreneurs to pitch their ideas to potential investors and supporters at Pitch@Palace 5.0 held at St. James’s Palace on 7 March.

Applications to the Boot Camp are open until 2 February from UK-based biotech-related entrepreneurs in such areas as consumer healthcare, diagnostics, food sciences, therapeutics, agriculture and big data.

Cambridge Judge Business School has a longstanding relationship with The Duke of York, who is the patron of the new Entrepreneurship Centre launched at the School in 2015. The growing Cambridge biotech community includes the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, where life sciences company AstraZeneca is constructing a new global Research & Development centre and corporate headquarters.

Prior to the Boot Camp near Cambridge, there will be three Pitch@Palace On Tour events – In London on 26 January, Manchester on 2 February and Glasgow on 9 February – with each event selecting three entrepreneurs for a place at the Boot Camp. Places for the Pitch@Palace On Tour events can be applied for using the same form as the Boot Camp application form.

The most recent Pitch@Palace, held last November, focused on the Internet of Things and Smart Cities. Three ventures associated with Cambridge Judge – Palle Tech, Entomos and Cambridge Bio-Augmentation Systems – were among the 15 finalists at that event.
