Cambridge Live seeks founding Chair of the Trustees

Cambridge Live, the working name of a new not-for--profit organisation being set up to take over the running of Cambridge City Council’s major arts venue and events, is seeking to appoint a Founding Chair to set up and lead the new charity over its first two years.

Cambridge Live, which will be fully operational by April 2015, will be responsible for the continued success and development of Cambridge Corn Exchange and Cambridge Folk Festival as well as other events.

The new organisation is being set up as a charitable company, limited by guarantee and governed by a board of Trustees who will also act as Company Directors. The board will led by a Chair and consist of 12 Trustees in total, two of whom will be nominated by Cambridge City Council. The Chair and Trustees will be non-executive and unremunerated.

A Founding Chair is now sought, for a two year period, to ensure the successful establishment of the charity and to provide strategic leadership to the Board of Trustees, the Managing Director and to the charity as a whole.

Antoinette Jackson, Chief Executive of Cambridge City Council said ‘The role of Founding Chair presents an exciting opportunity to lead on the development of a new arts Trust for the City in liaison with the City Council. If you believe you have the high-level skills, experience, energy and commitment required, we would be delighted to hear from you’.

Interested candidates for the role of Founding Chair should download the information pack. Alternatively they should contact Nick Dodds from Festivals and Events International (FEI) to arrange an informal discussion. Application will be by letter and CV with interviews scheduled in May for a June appointment. Nick can be contacted at nick.dodds@feiuk.com.
