There are some places across the country that offer better career opportunities than others.
The job search website has compiled a list of the 10 best and worst cities to find work and discovered that Cambridge along with Aberdeen and Reading were amongst the best with on average 1.22 unemployed claimants per vacancy. The research found that Cambridge had 1.56 people unemployed for each vacancy. Aberdeen was found to be the easiest place to find a job, with less than one unemployed person for every job available. In contrast amongst the cities deemed the worst to find work were Hull, Stoke-on-Trent, Southend and Sunderland.
The results showed that Cambridge and the Eastern Region performed well overall, with High Wycombe and Milton Keynes also being named in the top ten cities. Southend was the only anomaly in the results for the Eastern Region with 44.06 people out of employment for each job vacancy which may have been a result of local council redundancies.
Sales and marketing jobs were amongst the types of jobs most in demand across the country along with engineering and IT jobs, the site found that these jobs were also paying above average salaries. Andrew Hunter from Adzuna commented that: 'Policymakers should take note of where the jobs are being created and make sure that people are being trained in the right skills in the right locations.'
