Experienced professional will help educate the healthcare staff of the future
Ann-Marie will work closely with Anglia Ruskin, assisting colleagues on ensuring the curriculum for student nurses reflects the demands of the workplace, promoting leadership and working on publications from her research.
There may also be future opportunities for international collaborations between Anglia Ruskin and institutions in the United States of America, where Ann-Marie is relocating to after leaving her role at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Trust (CUH).
Ann-Marie has over 35 years’ experience in the NHS, and her role at CUH has seen her lead nursing and midwifery practice, student nurse and midwifery education, and professional leadership for allied health professionals. Ann-Marie was the executive lead for quality and safety, and oversaw the quality improvement plan that CUH has worked on over the last four years.
Prior to joining CUH, she was Director of Nursing at Papworth Hospital.
Ann-Marie said: “During my time at CUH, myself and colleagues have worked closely with Anglia Ruskin and its health faculties, working together to ensure our nurses and midwives of the future are exposed to the highest standards of education, development and support to ensure they are prepared for the challenges and expectations of the needs of our patients today and in the future.
“It is a great pleasure to be invited to be a visiting professor and I look forward to continuing to build relationships and support the research and education agenda of Anglia Ruskin.”
Professor Ruth Taylor, Senior Pro Vice Chancellor and Dean of the Faculty of Health, Education, Medicine and Social Care at Anglia Ruskin University, said: “Ann-Marie is an exemplary clinical leader, who has demonstrated her leadership at clinical, managerial and policy levels.
“I cannot think of anybody better able to support the work that we do at Anglia Ruskin in preparing student nurses for professional practice and for their own future leadership.”
