City Council sets out priorities for next three years

The leader of Cambridge City Council is set to agree a plan which lays out the council’s priorities for the next three years. To help deliver the council’s vision of “One Cambridge, Fair for all”, the new Corporate Plan brings together the things the council is planning to do, and how it will know whether it has achieved them.

In previous years, the council’s seven executive councillors have each produced their own “portfolio plan” for the year ahead.

This year they have worked together to produce a single Corporate Plan for the next three years, reflecting the medium term approach to budget planning that the council is also moving towards.

Cllr Lewis Herbert, Leader of the Council, said: “Cambridge City Council continues to deliver a huge range of services that benefit everyone who lives, works or studies in the city.

“Whilst we are determined to change the way we do things in the face of financial pressures, we do so to protect ambitious plans to ensure our future city will be cleaner, greener, safer and fairer for all.

“Our single new council plan brings all our goals together in one document to make it easier for residents, partner organisations and council staff, to be clear on our priorities and how they are contributing to making Cambridge better.”

Achievement against the plans is expected to be set out in future years in a report to the relevant council committee.

The Corporate Plan will be considered by councillors at Strategy and Resources Scrutiny Committee on 18 January.

Reports presented to council committees are available on the council’s website: http://democracy.cambridge.gov.uk/ieDocHome.aspx

The decision on whether to agree the Corporate Plan will be taken by Cllr Herbert at the council’s Strategy and Resources Committee on Monday 18 January.
