Alan started his career in print-based design for magazines and publishing before turning his hand to creating and evolving brand collateral for a broader corporate market. Alan now specialises in designing printed promotional material, websites, and artwork for digital marketing – ranging from email campaigns to video editing. The company’s designs can already be seen online, across East Anglia, and as far afield as Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Established in 2012 to fill a gap in the market for a communications agency ‘with a conscience’, Conscious Communications is based within the high-tech innovation hub of Cambridge’s St John’s Innovation Centre. With a growing reputation for providing intelligent marketing solutions for education, charity and hospitality clients, the team works with organisations including International Baccalaureate Organisation, St Mary’s School, Cambridge, Cambridge Science Centre, Brains Eden, Pamoja Education, British Nutrition Foundation, Marshal Papworth, and Bedford Lodge Hotel & Spa.
Conscious Communications is responsible for the Future Experience Points (FXP) festival, an initiative which was piloted in Cambridge from 25-26 June with support from Greater Cambridgeshire and Greater Peterborough Local Enterprise Partnership, Cambridge University Press, Jagex, ARM, YoYo Games and Anglia Ruskin University. The initiative was created to provide a unique opportunity for schools and Further Education students to gain exposure and access to the thriving Cambridge creative digital industry – through a games jam. Students participated in FXP from as far away as Bedford, Peterborough, Huntingdon and Ipswich, as well as Cambridge, and the new design team’s work to create the FXP website has been an essential factor in attracting digital natives to the festival.
To launch the Conscious Communications’ design team, businesses across the UK have received an interactive folding and revolving ‘tumble card’ in the post – showcasing the company’s flair for design.
Alison Taylor, Managing Director of Conscious Communications said: “Demand from our clients for excellent digital and print design to enhance communications programmes has grown over the years, so this is a natural progression for our business. We have worked with Alan for many years as a freelance designer and are delighted that he has agreed to join our team and lead the company’s growth in this area.”
