As Chair of the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Special Advisory Committee (CAPSAC) at the Royal College of Psychiatrists, Anupam will have oversight for monitoring and improving child and adolescent psychiatry training and assessment, and advising on related issues.
Anupam said: “I feel honoured to take on the Chair role, as it is a great opportunity to influence and develop child psychiatry training nationally. I look forward to continuing the amazing work of the previous committee. Trainees are facing several challenges, and I am keen to work with various stakeholders to make training in child psychiatry a more rewarding and fulfilling experience.”
Anupam works with CPFT’s Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) and is engaged in research to develop treatments and improve service pathways for affective disorders in children and young people. He is currently involved in a few studies looking at treatment of depression including the i-VALiD study and the BAY trial - the UK’s largest ever study of mental health treatment for young people.
