The free event, which will include a Q&A session, has been organised by Anglia Ruskin’s Cambridge Centre for Sport and Exercise Sciences (CCSES) and Active Anglia.
Gooch, who became England’s batting coach in 2012, enjoyed an incredible career in elite cricket after making his Test debut in 1975. He is still one of the leading run scorers in top-class cricket, having amassed almost 45,000 first-class runs and over 100 first-class centuries.
The 62-year-old is England’s second highest Test match run scorer with 8,900 runs and holds the record for England’s third highest Test match score (333 v India at Lord’s in 1990).
He played for Essex throughout his career, making his debut in 1973 and continuing to represent the Chelmsford side until his retirement in 1997. Gooch received an honorary degree from Anglia Ruskin in 2006 and was inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame in 2009.
Dr James Johnstone, Acting Head of the Department of Life Sciences at Anglia Ruskin, said: “Graham will provide an incredible insight into the process of achieving excellence and performing at the highest level.
“Thanks to his career as a player, captain, coach and selector at the highest level, few can match Graham’s experience. His views on the current cricket scene, and elite-level sport in general, should be of interest to all sports fans.”
