CW TEC focuses on IoT and seamless connectivity for smart wearables

There are only three weeks until the inaugural CW Technology and Engineering Conference that will bring together world-class speakers to discuss the future of mobile, satellite, TV, IoT, wearable technology and their impact on spectral value.

Taking place on Tuesday, 24th March the one day event sponsored and hosted by PwC at its London offices is set to debate the changes, challenges and opportunities within the wireless technology engineering sector.

The members of the CW TEC organising committee, Geoff Varrall of RTT Online, Dirk Trossen of InterDigital Europe, Sylvia Lu of u-blox AG, Guy Kenyon of Kenyon Consulting and Tim Phipps of Cambridge Consultants have collaborated to bring a conference programme spanning the most pressing issues in the wireless industry, including radio design, mobile broadband, development in IoT, M2M and wearable technology along with the latest space Internet ventures.

“Low power is critical for many of these emerging technologies yet small radio systems don’t necessarily lead to low power consumption without making some specific design choices and employing techniques that can be applied to wearable products and the IoT,” commented Paul Morris, Fellow at CSR. ‘We have an expert line-up of specialists in the M2M and wearable connectivity field at the CW TEC event which guarantees a thought-provoking debate on these issues.”

The four-session format will include the following topics:

  • Terrestrial and satellite integration - a key part of the 4G to 5G transition?’ featuring talks from Alan Carlton, Managing Director at InterDigital Europe, Andy Sutton, Principal Network Architect at EE and Graham Peters, Director at Avanti
  • ‘WiFi and low earth orbit satellites: a microwave delivery revolution?’ with presentations from Moray Rumney, Lead Technologist at Keysight Technologies, Sami Susiaho, Head of Edge Technologies at BskyB and Martin Gostling, Technical Director at Radio Design
  • Terrestrial broadcasting and mobile broadband - the UHF story and beyond’  Dan Fox, Director of Technology at Anritsu, Kent Walker, VP Technology at Qualcomm, Alexander Schertz, Researcher at IRT and Chris Nokes, Principal R&D Engineer at BBC Research and Development
  • ‘Machine to Machine and wearable connectivity’ featuring Liam Devlin, Non-Executive Director at Interlligent UK, Dr John Haine, RF Technology Innovation Coordinator at u-blox AG, Paul Morris, Fellow and Head of the UK PMO at CSR and Raj Gawera, VP Head at Samsung Cambridge Solutions Centre
