Since the drama One Fine Time Lord was released on the Dr Who Online website on 15 November, it has been downloaded over 270,000 times, with fans being encouraged to make a donation to Children in Need at the same time.
One Fine Time Lord was recorded earlier this year at Anglia Ruskin’s new £1.2million audio studio in Cambridge with the aim of raising money for charity, whilst also marking the 50th anniversary of Dr Who.
The hour-long drama was written and directed by former BBC director Brendan Sheppard, who is the current series producer of Doctor Who Online Adventures. The piece was produced by Kim Bates, a second year Film and TV production student, and edited by Jared Lucas, a third year Audio Music Technology student.
An open audition in the summer attracted actors and Dr Who fans from across the UK, and Anglia Ruskin students Catharine Pereira and James Amey landed two of the roles.
Producer Kim Bates said: “I’m currently in my second year studying Film and TV Production, and to have produced this between my first and second year at Anglia Ruskin has filled me with such confidence.
“I am so proud of every single person involved in creating this stunning production. I know both David Clouter and Brendan Sheppard from my work on Cam FM, and I cannot thank them enough for inviting me to be part of the production team.
“Brendan has lots of ideas for further Dr Who dramas set on Gallifrey and we’re hoping to get together again very soon and continue the adventure!”
