There has been an overwhelmingly positive response to both the central Cambridge location and regional exhibition outreach programme called ‘Cambridge Science Centre On-The-Road’. Excellent visitor, teacher and pupil feedback is supported by strong growth in visitor numbers to the site and online. By the end of 2014, the Centre will have served well over 50,000 children, their families, teachers, and school pupils. The modular and portable CSC exhibition and show format has shown clear potential to increase its reach and impact regionally and nationally.
Dr. Chris Lennard, Founding CEO, has recognised the need to strengthen the team and prepare for expansion of both the Cambridge central site and the On-the-Road programme. Adam Cleevely has been appointed as Interim Chief Operating Officer to oversee this preparation and he brings great experience in building teams and business growth. The Centre will also be recruiting a new CEO experienced in growth-stage social enterprises or charities. This transition is expected to last around six months overseen by Chris and Adam. Following this appointment, Chris will be pursuing other personal interests and stepping up to the Board of Trustees of the CSC to help maintain continuity of the Centre’s strategic plan. The position of interim COO will end.
Commenting on Chris’s move, the Cambridge Science Centre’s Chairman Dr David Cleevely CBE said “Chris successfully built the first Science Centre in Cambridge by drawing on his passion, networks and commercial skills. I am excited for him that he is pursuing his interests in the arts and look forward to working with him in his continuing involvement in the centre.”
