The banks of the River Chelmer are set to be a sight to behold with each of the 32 teams representing one of the nations competing at this year’s World Cup Finals in Brazil.
The festivities kick-off at a launch event on Thursday 22 May at THE Bar in Chelmsford where countries are set to be auctioned. The host for the evening will be Bob Mills from talkSPORT and ex-England footballer Geoff Thomas will say a few words about his battle with leukaemia and the work of the Tim Reeve Charitable Trust.
On the day itself, every team competes in three heats with the six fastest teams going through to the semi-finals and then a grand final. Along with the races, there will be live music and a variety of activities for children and adults alike. Please come along and support a very worthwhile cause and have a great day out.
Supporting the event holds particular significance for Birketts. Its Chelmsford office has long been a supporter of the event through connections with the Tim Reeve Charitable Trust which was set up in 2006 following Tim’s untimely death from leukaemia.
This short video on YouTube gives an insight into the work of the Trust and the charity it is part of, Lymphoma and Leukaemia Research.
The Trust is also hosting a general knowledge quiz night on Monday 9 June at the Meadows in Chelmsford to promote the event and to raise further funds.
Please contact Daden Hunt at daden-hunt@birketts.co.uk if you would like more information on the event and how to enter.
