EACS wins European IT Excellence Award 2012

EACS added another award to their achievements last week when they won the Datacentre Solution of the Year category at the European IT Excellence Awards 2012.

Datacentres are going through an enormous change at present particularly with the implementation of Virtualisation technologies. This category recognises these changes and was designed for solution providers who have redesigned a customer data centre or implemented a new technology within a datacentre. The judges were looking at how well the solution was implemented and the effect it had on the operations of the customer.   EACS was recognised for a virtualised infrastructure solution, using technologies from VMware and NetApp, which was deployed at The East of England Co-operative Society. EACS worked with the Society to reduce their servers by almost 90%, with a projected cost saving of £188,840 and energy savings of 227,292 kWh over the next four years. The Society now has a highly resilient solution with complete site failover of IT services from the head office site to the DR site and substantially simplified infrastructure management. Click to hear what Richard Helliwell, ICT Services Controller at East of England Co-op, had to say about the solution.     "The EACS solution for the East of England Co-operative Society impressed the judges because it met and exceeded the three key business issues of sustainability, business continuity and disaster recovery," stated John Chapman, Editorial Director at IT Europa. "In particular they took into consideration the impressive cost and energy savings."   Mike Dearlove, Managing Director of EACS, attended the ceremony which was held last week at the Sheraton Park Lane Hotel, London. He said: “EACS has helped many organisations to move to a virtualised infrastructure and we are extremely pleased that our work with the East of England Co-operative has been recognised for the effect it has had on their operations. I would like to thank everyone involved at EACS for all their hard work, which has enabled us to win this award."   EACS was also a finalist in the Mobility Solution of the Year Award category for their work with East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).   The European IT Excellence Awards are the only pan-European awards which recognise the crucial role that Solution Providers and Systems Integrators play in the delivery of real world solutions, and attracted entries from 23 countries. Forty-nine companies from 17 countries made the finals. The winners were selected by an independent panel of consultants and editors. _________________________________
