Ireland remains the UK’s largest export market for food and drink which is why UK Trade & Investment has arranged a visit to Dublin for the Taste of Britain exhibition on 26-27 September for companies interested in exporting food and drink, particularly those new to overseas markets.
With the same language, similar food tastes, business etiquette, culture, customs and close proximity, Ireland is the ideal export market for UK and West Midlands companies.
Irish buying decisions and industry trends are generally similar to those in the UK. UK products have a significant place in everyday life with an average spend per person per year of over £2,500 on British goods
Liz Basing, Regional Director, UK Trade & Investment East says: “Despite the doom and gloom we so often hear around the Eurozone, healthy markets - such as the Irish food and drink market - still exist. I would urge any East of England food and drink company thinking of exporting overseas to come and join us on this exciting trip to Dublin in September - the closing date for registration is Friday 17 August 2012."
The two day programme includes:
- Store visits - which will include top local retailers such as Dunnes Stores, Fallon & Byrne, Superquinn, Mortons and Donnybrook Fair
- Opportunity to display goods at a tailored trade show with access to hundreds of distributors, purchasing managers and buyers.
- Series of seminars with leading experts in the Irish food and drink industry.
- Multiple networking opportunities.
- Free advice from professional services firms such as Lawyers O’Rourke Reid , Ulster Bank and accountancy firm RSM Farrell Grant
- Visit to ‘SHOP’ – Ireland’s retail, food, drink and hospitality show.
Hundreds of UK companies currently do business in Ireland making the country Britain’s fifth largest export market. Imports from the UK represent 35% of Ireland’s imports, while 17% of Irish exports go to Britain.
The cost of the Taste of Britain trade visit to Dublin is £585+VAT for the first delegate and £390+VAT for second delegate. It includes roundtrip flights from specified airports including Birmingham airport, Dublin airport transfers, accommodation and meals.
