End the year with a set of new skills

Whether you need to improve how you manage your time, business finances or projects, Cambridge Network's Learning Collaboration has a course for you. Look into its December courses calendar and you could end the year with new skills.

Time Management on Thursday December 3rd (a host venue is sought) acknowledges that time is one of the most important assets at work and everyone has a responsibility to ensure it is well managed. This doesn’t always mean being ‘maxed’ out – it’s about getting balance into your life to ensure you take care of priorities.

This one day programme will help you develop a strategy for ‘event control’ and give you a range of tools and techniques to help you plan and organise yourself to be effective.

Finance for Non Financial Managers on Tuesday December 8th (a host venue is sought) is a one day course designed to send you back into your business confident in your understanding and application of basic financial terms and concepts.

It assumes no prior knowledge and uses everyday terminology to dispel the mists put up by the financial world which perhaps encourage you to believe it is difficult – it isn’t. What’s more, it can be fun!

You will leave with the ability to:

  • Manage working capital and cash flow better
  • Maximise profitability
  • Read financial statementsI
  • Interpret the figures
  • Understand the jargon used in the financial world.

The following day, Wednesday December 9th (host to be confirmed),  Introduction to Project Management is aimed at people who want to understand the fundamental principles of project working. It will typically benefit team members with some elements of project management in their day-to-day role or for those who regularly participate in project teams. It assumes little previous project management knowledge.

The syllabus covers an introduction to project management, project life cycles, initiating and identifying the scope of a project, defining needs of stakeholders, developing a business case, creating a project and communications plan and establishing key success factors.

This one day workshop also covers the key roles of project team members, managing expectations of stakeholders (client) and others, whilst engaging motivations to deliver according to your plan. It will introduce some monitoring tools and techniques for project team meetings, managing change during a project and how to report on progress.
