Minichiello has coached Ennis-Hill since she was 13, helping her to European, World Indoor and World Outdoor heptathlon titles.
Ennis-Hill then cemented her place as one of Britain’s most successful, and recognisable sport stars with her gold medal at the London Olympics. Following Ennis-Hill’s performance at London 2012, Minichiello was awarded the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Coach Award.
Minichiello is employed by British Athletics as an athlete-based support coach. After an extended break, during which Ennis-Hill gave birth to son Reggie last July, the pair are now back together at their Sheffield training base as she begins her quest to retain her Olympic crown in Rio de Janeiro next summer.
Martin Beaver, Head of Sport and Active Anglia, said: “Following a brilliant evening with our own gold medal winning judoka Danny Williams before Christmas, the second Excellence in Sport Seminar of the academic year promises to be just as fascinating.
“With Toni coaching one of Britain’s most successful current athletes, his talk is bound to offer some great insights into the world of top-level track and field.”
The free public event, organised by Anglia Ruskin’s Sport and Exercise Sciences department, begins at 6pm and booking is essential. To reserve a seat, visit www.anglia.ac.uk/excellence
