EPC B rating consultation launched

The Government has launched a consultation seeking input on how to achieve its preferred trajectory of meeting the minimum energy efficiency (MEE) rating of B by 2030 on all tenanted non-domestic property.

The consultation proposes that properties should achieve a C rating by 1st April 2027 and the B rating by 1st April 2030.  If these ratings are not met then the landlord of the property in question will be required to register an exemption.  Changes proposed will make it clear that all let properties (included listed properties) are within the scope of the MEEs regulations.

The proposals also include a prohibition on letting agents advertising properties that are non-compliant. The consultation is open until 9th June 2021. To respond click here.
