Eve Waldron Design completes project at New Court, St John's College

Eve Waldron Design has completed work on the interiors for New Court, St John's College. St John’s was founded in 1511 and New Court is one of the best-loved buildings in Cambridge.

Eve Waldron writes:

We are delighted to be continuing our relationship with the wonderful colleges of Cambridge and wanted to share a recent collaboration with St John's New Court, one of the most iconic and loved buildings in the city. Tasked with extensive refurbishment of the interior spaces of this Gothic masterpiece, we began a mindful and intelligent journey, working closely with multiple stakeholders.

We looked specifically at not only introducing appropriate aesthetics, but also to ensure design longevity, when considering the high-traffic use of the Fellows’ accommodation spaces. There are always unique challenges when working with historic and listed buildings which we enjoy overcoming, including for this project - the fitting of en-suite bathrooms into constrained, octagonal turrets.

Much of our work has been the bespoke design of furniture in oak, upgrading heating and lighting, as well as sourcing antiques, thus adding individuality to every room.

Eve Waldron Design is an interior architecture design practice and was founded in 2000. The practice works across a range of disciplines with clients in the commercial, education and residential sectors. Its team offers a full design service, acting as lead consultant from concept through to completion.
