The charity is to show the multiple award-winning Dirty Dancing on Saturday, 14 October – just two days before it was released in the UK back in 1987.
The event promises to be a lot of fun, with live music from 2FBS to entertain until the film begins. There will also be a raffle, in which tickets to a Huntingdon raceday will be up for grabs. In addition there will be food stands and a bar, or guests are welcome to take a picnic.
Polly West, EACH Cambridgeshire Community Fundraiser, said: “We’ve already sold over 200 tickets for Dirty Dancing and hope by bringing our event to Huntingdon that many more of our supporters from across Cambridgeshire will come along to help celebrate the 30th anniversary of this iconic film.
“Since we first announced our plans, we’ve agreed with the racecourse that if the English weather lives up to reputation filmgoers will be able to watch under the grandstand – so there’s no need to worry about getting wet!”
Dirty Dancing really needs no introduction, with the romantic dance drama as popular now as it was when released 30 years ago.
Gates will open at 6.30pm. The film, one hour and 40 minutes, will start at sundown around 8pm. There will be no reserved seating so guests are advised to take blankets and collapsible chairs for full comfort.
The racecourse has free parking and disabled access. Dogs on leads are welcome.
