Executive MBA Apprenticeship recruiting for November 2020

The Executive MBA Apprenticeship is an unique new qualification designed to equip modern executives with a rich, versatile skills set, which will enable them to manage the complex social, cultural, technical and organisational issues that arise in contemporary business markets and environments.

Offered by the National Structural Integrity Research Centre (NSIRC) and awarded by De Montfort University (DMU), the new MBA is a flexible, part-time masters degree which employees undertake while they continue to work full-time for their employer.  NSIRC is a state-of-the-art postgraduate engineering facility uniting industry and academia whose founding sponsors are BP and Lloyd’s Register Foundation.  DMU is listed in the Top 50 universities in the world for sustainability in the Times Higher Education (THE) University Impact Rankings for 2019, and is ranked Gold by the Teaching Excellence Framework.

The MBA’s blended work-based programme comprises six modules: leadership; financial decision making; strategy in turbulent times; social entrepreneurship and innovation in new settings; business and sustainability; and the future of work and organisations.  The programme is taught over 24 months using a combination of face-to-face and online seminars, real-world projects, interactive class room activities, simulations and field trips.  Taught days are complemented with distance learning and self-directed study.

Learning outcomes from the programme can be applied to businesses of any size in the private, public or third sectors, and the theory and practices will contribute to the candidate’s career development.

Individuals successfully completing the new Executive MBA Apprenticeship will obtain:

  • An Executive MBA awarded by De Montfort University
  • A Chartered Management Institute (CMI) Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Leadership and Management
  • A Senior Leader Master’s Degree Apprenticeship

To meet the eligibility criteria for the course, applicants should have a minimum of three years’ professional experience and an Honours degree, or significant professional experience (3 years minimum) and a relevant professional qualification.  Their employer must also support their participation in the programme.

Applications for the Executive MBA Apprenticeship should be submitted no later than 30 September 2020.  Further information about the course can be found on the NSIRC website.

Tat-Hean Gan, Director of NSIRC and Director of TWI’s Innovation Network said “This new MBA from NSIRC and De Montfort has been established to enable modern executives working in engineering to address and respond to the changing demands and interactive situations arising in today’s business world.”  “The way in which the course is being delivered means that participants are able to study for a Masters degree whilst simultaneously continuing their current role, meaning that both parties benefit from continuity in the workplace together with significant development of the employee’s skills and knowledge-base as applied to a real-world industry setting.” he added.
