If you are an indie fan and you live in or near Cambridge, there’s a high chance you have visited the true indie enclave that is Burwash Manor. With its award-winning farm shop, tea room, boutiques and spa, all housed in beautifully converted barn buildings, it is a real treat and since the end of 2016, art lovers have a particular reason to go with the opening of a very unique gallery – The Art Hound Gallery.
It all began in 2012, when the team were based on the King’s Road in Fulham, London. Having sold online to celebrity private clients, to the trade and the UK’s top art fairs – it was time to open a permanent gallery space to take their stock direct to the public.
Exhibiting and selling works by internationally recognised British artists such as Tracy Emin, Damien Hirst, and Gavin Turk; Pop Art by Andy Warhol, Peter Blake, and Eduardo Paolozzi, and Urban Art by Pure Evil, Bambi and Shepard Fairey, the Gallery also showcases work from some of the most talented and promising emerging artists from London, the UK and around the world: including Kate Boxer, Basia Lautman and Chris Bourke.
Works from the print studios of Master Printers Kip Gresham and Francois Pont are displayed alongside lithographic prints by Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, and Marc Chagall from the famous Mourlot Studios in Paris.
There really are no limits to what you can find: as well as paintings and original prints there’s a fine selection of jewellery and cards – all with a great range of prices.
The gallery is open seven days a week, so there’s always someone there to answer queries and handle requests - and they promise no pretentious answers. Remember too, as well as art, the team loves dogs, so if you have your own hound – bring them along too!
