Explore Independent Cambridge - Cambridge Cloud Accounting

With the help of Independent Cambridge - the community of ‘real’ Cambridge - Cambridge Network continues its weekly exploration of the best independent shops, cafés, restaurants, people, businesses, venues and events in Cambridge and the surrounding area. This week: Cambridge Cloud Accounting.

Gone are the days of the solitary accountant, sat in a dusty room piled high with books, receipts and reams of paper. The digital age - and specifically cloud technology - has revolutionised the world of financial services.

Prolific Cambridge businessman Peter Howard-Jones, who has over 30 years’ experience in the sector, running his chartered accounting firm, is embracing this technology in his company Cambridge Cloud Accounting. Peter envisioned the business concept 10 years ago and today a team of five recruits - including three highly-motivated apprentices, under the tutelage of practice manager Hannah Grieve - drive the technology.

Working with cloud-based accounting software such as Xero, Quickbooks and Sage, the team offers clients easily-accessible digital accounts systems, and can be as hands-on or hands-off as the customer desires. But crucially, they can swoop in to help with ‘year-end’, compliance requirements, and ‘making tax digital’.

Other services offered include VAT preparation and submission, bank reconciliations, management reports, tax computations and return filing, plus integrated online payroll software.

Thanks to Peter’s business empire (he also runs Cambridge Financial Services and Cambridge Audit Services), expert advice can also be provided on specialist tax relief schemes. When it comes to financial services, this team has it well and truly covered.
