February conference launches new Greater Cambridge City Deal skills service

Schools and business leaders are invited to a conference next month to learn about the new Greater Cambridge City Deal skills service and how it will enhance careers and employment support for young people across the region.

The conference on Thursday February 11th will provide an excellent opportunity to meet with peers from business and education, and will include keynote speeches, workshops and a networking reception.

Topics will include:

  • the role of business in education
  • the nature of careers provision in schools and colleges
  • local labour market trends
  • gaps in provision
  • and an update on apprenticeship reform.

A new digital platform designed to enhance and scale education and employer engagement will also be launched at the event.

Conference organiser, Anne Bailey of Form the Future said: "Our goal is to give young people the skills to compete in the local, national and global marketplace. By enhancing work-related learning in schools and colleges we can help young people make the most of their lives and contribute fully to Cambridge’s economy and the future of our city. Success depends on the commitment and collaboration of all schools, colleges, employers, local authorities, careers specialists and training providers. This conference is an opportunity to bring everyone together to advance the programme. We hope you can join us."

Thursday, 11 February 2016 from 16:00 to 19:00
