The Making Creativity Pay workshop has been organised by the StoryLab Research Institute at Anglia Ruskin, as part of its Creative Practice Methods series.
It will bring together practitioners working in film, illustration, and contemporary art, and will focus on commissioning and working with agents.
The event will be chaired by former BBC producer Hans Petch, who is now a Senior Lecturer in Film and Television Production at ARU’s Cambridge School of Creative Industries. Speakers include Pauline Burt, CEO of Ffilm Cymru Wales, and Mark Segal, of The Artists Agency.
They will be joined by Dr Nanette Hoogslag, a practising illustrator and the Course Leader for the BA (Hons) Illustration & Animation degree at ARU. During her career, Nanette has been commissioned to create work for clients including the City Council of Amsterdam, Deutsche Bank, Macmillan Books, Heineken, London Transport, New York Stock Exchange, Royal Shakespeare Company, Siemens, and Penguin Books.
Dr Shreepali Patel, Director of Anglia Ruskin’s StoryLab Research Institute, said: “The Creative Practice Methods series of workshops aims to give creative professionals and researchers a platform to present and discuss their work with the invited guests.
“Making Creativity Pay brings together experts in the field of filmmaking, design and fine art, who will discuss how artists can work with agents or commissioning agencies to professionalise their career. This workshop is designed to invite an open discussion on making a living from creative practice.”
Making Creativity Pay will take place from 2-4pm on 19 June, at Anglia Ruskin’s East Road campus in Cambridge. This is a free event, but booking is essential. Please email storylab@anglia.ac.uk or visit www.storylabresearch.com to reserve your place.
