Cambridge City Council’s Children and Young People’s Participation Service (ChYpPS) team will lead the event on Parker’s Piece from 2 to 5pm.
A variety of stimulating activities will be on offer from crafts to sport and other attractions, all focused on celebrating what it means to be a child.
Children will be able to have a go on a transverse climbing wall, take part in wacky races and loose parts play and enjoy a giant inflatable slide.
There is no need to book - simply turn up on the day and head in the direction of the café/kiosk on the Queen Anne Terrace car park side of Parker’s Piece.
Cllr Richard Johnson, Executive Councillor for Communities, said: “International Children’s Day gives us all an opportunity to celebrate children and childhood, so what better time to put on an afternoon of interesting and fun activities?
“Whether sporty or crafty there will be something for all, so I hope lots of children will bring their families along to join in and try out something new.”
The event is being supported by Amey and Kinnerz Coaching.
Later this summer ChYpPS will once again run their summer programme – PlayDaze - which will be crammed with more free activities. Details will be published in the coming weeks.
