Greenwoods supports Dementia Friends campaign

Two of Greenwoods' private client solicitors, Danielle Hainsby and Clare Threlfall, have completed their training to become Dementia Friends.

Dementia Friends is an Alzheimer’s Society initiative funded by the Cabinet Office and Department of Health that aims to give one million people a better understanding of dementia by 2016. Currently over 530,000 people have signed up since the campaign was launched in 2013. Once people are more informed about the disease, the initiative aims to turn that knowledge into action within the community.

The training session showed how people can “live well with dementia” and how we can assist people suffering from dementia in their daily lives to maintain as much independence as possible.

Danielle and Clare are both private client solicitors who inevitability deal with people who have been directly or indirectly affected by the condition.

Senior Solicitor Clare Threlfall based in the Cambridge office said: “The training was eye opening and particularly as a private client solicitor dealing with mental capacity issues; it provided a greater understanding on how to approach matters with someone who has been diagnosed with dementia.”
Solicitor, Danielle Hainsby based in our Peterborough office added, “I have come away feeling like I know a little more about dementia and the small things that I can do to assist those with the condition”.

One in 14 people are diagnosed with some form of dementia and it has recently been revealed that dementia is now the leading cause of death of women in England and Wales.

Danielle and Clare are committed to turning their knowledge into action; please keep an eye out for future updates on Greenwoods' website and in its  enewsletter ‘Private Client Matters’.  If you are not a subscriber you can sign-up here.
