Eddie brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this role, not only from his many years previously leading the festival for the city council, but also from his work with other festivals, both nationally and internationally.
As guest artistic director, Eddie will be responsible for the overall programme of the festival and will work with the festival team to ensure that the festival continues to thrive as it moves through its sixth decade and beyond.
Cllr Anna Smith, Executive Councillor for Communities, said: “I am delighted to welcome Eddie back to the folk festival.
“We are very fortunate to have such an experienced guest artistic director who will be able to work with us as on the next stage in the life of this unique and much-loved festival.”
The dates of the 56th Festival will be 30 July to 2 August 2020 and tickets will go on sale in early December.
