How to win big by thinking small

A sobering thought for New Year 2021:  80% of New Year's resolutions will fail!

Chris Dunn Consulting writes:

Sometimes it's better to set small daily targets rather than one big goal for the whole year.

When Rob Baxter was appointed as Head Coach of Exeter Chiefs in 2009, he could never have dreamed that he would take a team from lower league obscurity to the pinnacle of European rugby.

He didn’t concentrate on the big prizes. Instead, he focused on the small daily victories that would make his team better over time. As he puts it:

“The only thing we’ve ever tried to achieve is to be a little bit better. Either, month by month. Or six months by six months. Or year by year.”

Fast forward to today. Exeter Chiefs are Champions of England and Champions of Europe.

In the New Year’s Honours List, Rob has been awarded an OBE and his captain Joe Simmonds an MBE.

Now think of what you can accomplish today, take the first step, and keep going. You'll be amazed where this takes you.

Happy New Year!
