The second Volunteer for Cambridge event, organised by Cambridge City Council with CambridgeHub, and sponsored by ARM Ltd, brought together around 100 charities, voluntary organisations and societies to give residents and students the chance to learn about volunteering.
The free event saw almost 900 attendees discussing volunteering in many areas including health, disability, social care, young people, education, culture, sport, the environment, anti-poverty and justice.
Cllr Richard Johnson, Executive Councillor for Communities, said: “We had another fabulous turnout to this, our second Volunteer for Cambridge event, and it was a great pleasure to talk with many of the organisations and potential volunteers.
“We are fortunate to have a vibrant voluntary community in Cambridge doing essential work, often for those in greatest need, and I am pleased that the council has been able to play a major part in helping to inspire new volunteers.
“Without the dedication and energy of volunteers so many of these organisations would really struggle and I am grateful to each and every volunteer in the city for their contribution.
“Thank you to ARM once again for supporting the event.”
As well as a hundred different stalls, there were free activities for children and a café serving refreshments. For more information about the organisations that took part go to: http://www.cambridgehub.org/volunteer-for-cambridge.
