Thursday 20 February 2014 was a historic day for Integrated Advisory Group International (IAG), as it held its first ever regional meeting in Singapore as part of its Asia / Pacific recruitment initiative.
Building on the success of 2013’s Sydney Assembly, its first in the Asia / Pacific region, IAG Chairman Ron Kravitz from Shepherd Miller Finkelman & Shah in the US and IAG Secretary Daden Hunt from Birketts welcomed over 20 delegates to the meeting.
Attendees included returning prospective members Leahy Lewin Nutley Sullivan from Papua New Guinea and Descombes & Salans from New Caledonia as well as first time prospective members Cavell Leitch from New Zealand, DFDL, a multi-jurisdictional law firm with offices in Bangladesh, Burma, Cambodia, Laos, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam and Mataram Partners, DFDL’s Indonesian associate firm.
IAG was also delighted to welcome delegates from affiliate accountancy group KSi’s Malaysian and Singaporean members WH Hau & Co and R Chan & Associates.
Ron and Daden made presentations on IAG and the costs and benefits of membership respectively before each of the prospective members gave a presentation on their respective firm. Three other presentations rounded off the main business session with Rockwell Olivier’s Anthony Quahe, from the firm’s Perth office, talking about Disruptive Innovation, Martin Desautels, DFDL’s managing partner, giving delegates a fascinating insight into the legal system and opportunities for doing business in Burma, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam and Daden Hunt giving a presentation on Birketts, why it is a member of IAG and what it sees as the benefits of membership.
A successful meeting concluded with a drinks reception overlooking the marina and an enjoyable dinner at a local restaurant.
