IAG holds its first full Assembly of the year in Salzburg

Birketts was represented by Daden Hunt, current IAG Secretary, Nick Burnett, former Chairman, and first time attendee Clare Hedges. They joined 70 other delegates including representatives from two prospective members - Aaron & Partners, an English law firm based in Chester and the North West of England, and Serafim Sotiriadis & Associates, a Greek law firm based in Athens.

The highlights of the business session, in addition to the presentations from the prospective members, were an update on IAG’s Asia / Pacific recruitment initiative following the inaugural Asia / Pacific meeting in Singapore in late February and a presentation from long-standing member firm Maitland on the Isle of Man as a place to do business.

The business session ended with the specialist groups meeting and there was the usual lively debate and discussion with topics ranging from expert witnesses and disclosure (the litigation group) to privacy and data protection (the international business transactions group).

Host firm Neudorfer Rechtsanwalte GmbH (www.neudorferlaw.at) ensured that IAG’s 25th anniversary year got underway in style with a packed programme of events around the formal business session.

The highlight of these was skiing at Obertauern which included a first ever IAG slalom skiing competition. The 28 competitors were paired up and ranked by combined times. Perhaps unsurprisingly the event was dominated by the Austrians, French, Germans and Italians and although both Daden and Nick successfully completed the course neither won a medal.

Please see the IAG website www.iaginternational.org or contact Daden Hunt if you would like any further information on IAG or you need an introduction to one of our members.
