Professor Taylor, Pro Vice Chancellor and Dean of the Faculty of Health, Social Care and Education at Anglia Ruskin, will take on the newly created portfolio of “Workforce” within the Executive Team, which is made up of 12 senior Higher Education academics from across the UK.
The Council of Deans of Health operates across the UK at the heart of political and policy debate. It aims to lead policy at national and UK level, promoting the essential contribution of its member institutions, including Anglia Ruskin University, to health and social care.
Professor Taylor, who joined Anglia Ruskin in 2013, said: “I am delighted to have been elected by our membership to this post, which is in areas of increasing importance to nursing, midwifery and allied health profession education in Higher Education.
“As an Executive Member I will help the Council to set and deliver priorities relating to the changing workforce needs and will support the development of academic leaders.
“The key challenges for this role relate directly to what is taking place in the health and social care environments and include identifying education solutions to increase the numbers of qualified nurses in practice, and addressing workforce demands through creative, flexible and collaborative working with our healthcare partners.
“I am excited to be in a position to work with the membership to make sure we are delivering education fit for the current and future contexts of healthcare practice.
“As a previous Florence Nightingale Foundation leadership scholar myself, I am particularly looking forward to working with our emerging leaders through the scholarship programme and in other ways.
“It is a privilege to have the opportunity to work at this level, and fantastic to be able to influence and lead the policy and priorities at such an important time for Higher Education.”
