LEP Chair steps down

From 1st June 2012 Neville Reyner CBE DL will step down from his role as Chair of the Greater Cambridge Greater Peterborough Enterprise Partnership (LEP), following a successful 15 months in the role.

During his time as Chair of the LEP, Neville has helped to establish a sound foundation for future work, despite limited resource funding. Key achievements include:

• Putting in place a strong, business-led Board
 • Winning through in the national competition for an Enterprise Zone at Alconbury
 • Establishing the LEP as a Company Limited by Guarantee
 • Bringing in a core team of part-time staff, now led by an interim Executive Director –Glenn Athey
 • Establishing a number of focused sub groups to feed into the overall LEP strategy
 • Establishing a LEP Chairs Group with neighbouring LEPs
 • An agreed Operational Business Plan

Neville Reyner CBE DL, said: “Current time commitments elsewhere and a need for me to focus more on those activities has to take priority, coupled with a sense that I have taken this LEP to a point where it can develop further. I have greatly enjoyed visiting and presenting within all the areas that make up our LEP, and working on the national stage to promote and support the businesses and communities in our area. I know that I am leaving the organisation with a solid foundation from which to build for the future, and wish the Board and the team all the best for the future. I will of course continue to follow the LEP’s work with great interest.”

The Board are now working together to select an Interim Chair and then put in place a recruitment process for a new Chair.
