Lord Broers joins distinguished panel at Cambridge Graphene conference

Lord Alec Broers, the former Vice Chancellor of Cambridge University and a Board member of the Cambridge Graphene Centre, will take part in a distinguished panel on Friday 6th November at the 3rd CIR Graphene Business Conference.

Lord Broers is joined by Andrew Houghton who is Deputy Head of Unit C4, Flagships, DG CONNECT, European Commission, with the responsibility for innovation in future and emerging technologies in the Graphene Flagship. The panel, chaired by Professor Andrea Ferrari of CGC, will also comprise Professor Bill O'Neill, a prominent researcher at the IfM, Ray Gibbs, CEO of Haydale, and Airbus' Head of Space Projects. It promises to be a fascinating and hard-hitting start to the day of conference sessions.

The two-day event is sponsored by Haydale and Cambridge-based FlexEnable. Haydale's CEO Ray Gibbs commented: ”Haydale’s functionalised graphene technology already is providing ground breaking benefits to organisations involved with composite materials, conductive inks and next generation battery technology”.

Professor Andrea Ferrari added: “We are very much looking forward to our Cambridge Graphene Technology Day on the 5th of November, when we will showcase industrial applications of graphene and related materials. We are also excited to be hosting high value manufacturing-oriented meetings on the site of the Cambridge Graphene Centre.”

Dr Justin Hayward, CEO of CIR and Co-Director of Cambridge Graphene Days 2015, said: "The Cambridge Graphene Days 2015 is a prime festival of events over two days for networking and learning more about the latest advances in commercialising Graphene and related materials  in sectors such as electronics, displays, energy storage, composites, packaging, biotech, pharma, aerospace & defence and automotive.

"The programme and exhibition include over 40 suppliers of technology and advanced materials, including innovating solutions providers such as Haydale setting out their go-to-market products and services, alongside large industrial firms.

"The special programme of events will be held mainly in Cambridge's newly-opening Graphene Building: with an exhibition of technology and tours of new labs as well as a media event, conference and a Hall dinner. The expert-led MasterClass covering the value network srtructure and barriers & application prioritisation offers added value to corporate executive leaders."
