Love conquers all with Best Overall Project prize

Anglia Ruskin University graduates claimed two major prizes at the prestigious 2015 London Book Fair International Excellence Awards ceremony at London Olympia Conference Centre.

Victoria Love won Best Overall Project for her work on creating Blurbify and Nigel Graves claimed the best Dissertation for a Postgraduate award for his study on ‘Complex e-book production’.  Both are recent graduates from the MA Publishing course at Anglia Ruskin.

The two prizes were sponsored by the Association for Publishing Education and the ceremony saw winners from every corner of the globe, from Bangladesh to the United States.

Dr Leah Tether, Principal Lecturer in Publishing at Anglia Ruskin, said: “The fact that these projects have been recognised in this way provides evidence of the strong industry relevance of the MA Publishing degree we are delivering here at Anglia Ruskin.

“Our students are being trained in everything they need to know to succeed in the trade and our success in employability, with 100% in work within six months of graduating, provides further affirmation of this.

“Their continued contribution to the industry is assured by the fact they have both recently gained their first publishing roles.  They are both working in production, with Victoria at Penguin/DK and Nigel at Cambridge University Press.”

The awards were judged by a panel of industry experts and were presented by Richard Mollet, Chief Executive of The Publishers Association.  Richard Mollet said: “It is great to see publishing innovation and excellence receive such international recognition.

“The sheer spread of countries whose publishing industries are recognised tonight demonstrates the continuing global relevance of our industry in the digital age.”
