Management and leadership training on the rise

More and more Cambridge businesses are growing - and promoting from within, if the latest course figures from Cambridge Network's Learning Collaboration (LC) are anything to go by. Its most popular training course by far is 'Transition to Management', which has been attended by an astonishing 240 people in the past 12 months alone.

"It seems that increasing numbers of people in local businesses are progressing into management positions," says Ali Wilson, LC's courses and events manager, "which means the demand for early stage management training is greater than ever.

"Because of this trend, we are now offering what we think is the next logical step - a course for people who have some management experience and who now need or want to learn to be leaders."

21st Century Leadership on September 11th and 12th is a new two-day interactive, reflective and highly practical course, leading to concrete actions to achieve success through positive and engaging leadership behaviours.

Offered by Development Group International (DGI) - the training organisation which delivers LC's 'Transition to Management' courses -  this follow-on course focuses on getting individuals to recognise their natural approach to leadership, to understand where they may benefit from adjusting their style and to be clear on the key challenges a leader must face. Business will always demand 'the outcome' (strategic goals) but it is how we get there that will dictate the long term success of the organisation. And the how is down to us; leaders at whatever level of our company.

It aims to enable managers to become effective leaders by:

  • Knowing what to work on to create a high performing climate through leadership behaviours
  • Providing tools and techniques to enable you to lead through change
  • Helping you become highly self aware and able to adapt yourself to achieve the maximum potential of your team.

If this course interests you, come along to Cambridge Network's Breakfast Networking session on Tuesday July 8th, which is a workshop designed as a 'taster' session for the new two-day LC course.

Valuable in its own right, this one-hour session will explain what 21st Century leadership is increasingly about, give an overview of the two day programme and provide a flavour of the course to get you thinking!  Find out more and sign up here.

Also coming up  - on Thursday July 17th - is Psychology of Persuasion, a one-day workshop designed for anyone who has to persuade others regularly as part of their job.

Whether you have to persuade someone to buy, invest, buy into, change, or do something, understanding the psychology behind how we are persuaded and why we resist is essential for an effective result. This workshop will give you an insight into the psychology of persuasion and the tools to enhance your approach.
