This week we welcomed a new cohort of Improvement Technician apprentices from Horizon Discovery and CamdenBoss.

“I am keen to try new things and develop my interest in particular areas which will provide useful skills for my current role and career development.” – Georgia (Horizon Discovery)

Horizon Discovery is a leading provider of cell engineering solutions who drives the application of gene editing and gene modulation within the global life science market – supporting scientists on the path from research to therapy.

“I am passionate about process improvement and am hoping to bring a culture of improvement and efficiency to my workplace.” – Althea (Horizon Discovery)

CamdenBoss is the biggest innovator of high-quality plastic enclosures and electro-mechanical components in the UK, CamdenBoss has built an unbeatable and comprehensive portfolio of products, guaranteed to satisfy any requirement.

“You are never too old to improve yourself” - Georgina (CamdenBoss)

Improvement Technicians handle delivery and coaching of improvement activity within an area of responsibility, often associated with Lean and Six Sigma methodologies. They can be found across all industry sectors and functions including automotive, banking, engineering, food products, IT, property, retail, telecoms etc. Through a mix of group exercises, games and an improvement project, a tangible behavioural change will improve processes and drive productivity.

“I really feel it will help me to develop into a better engineer” - Sam (CamdenBoss)

When thinking about apprenticeships many people assume they are aimed at young people learning a trade at the beginning of their careers but that is a common misconception; apprenticeships can be used to upskill people at any stage of their career. All the learners on this course are qualified professionals looking to progress professionally and improve their productivity.

“I chose to do this apprenticeship as this is becoming an important skill within my sector of work. Undertaking this training should help me progress my career as well as learning new skills and meeting new people.” - Rachel (Horizon Discovery)
