New owner of Millers Music, 33-year-old-entrepreneur Simon Pollard said: “We like to think that the mix of Millers Music with its huge range of keyboard instruments and Ken Stevens' selection of other instruments and music makes Millers Music the perfect one stop music store.  Today,  Millers Music is the largest music store in East Anglia and counts among its famous customers Pink Floyd stars David Gilmour, Roger Waters and Syd Barrett, who all bought their first guitars from Millers.”

Recent Changes

Millers Music’s guitar department has been completely refreshed and the store now boasts one of the finest selections of instruments, amps, and accessories in East Anglia from major brands such as Fender, Martin & Co, Roland, Marshall, Yamaha, Tanglewood and Orange.  The drum department has also been updated and now includes a huge selection of the market-leading Roland V-Drums.  Millers Music will soon be welcoming a brand new Bechstein B160 grand piano, adding the finishing touch to its updated piano showroom which houses the largest selection of traditional upright & grand pianos in the entire East of England along with digital pianos from Roland, Yamaha, and Casio.

Simon commented: “Millers is an historic Cambridge treasure and while a lot of work has been done to update the store and music offering, we  have been careful to maintain its  heritage and long history of providing excellent service from a dedicated team of passionate musical experts and also now have social media channels so that we can engage fully with our customers.  Our new website will be live in the coming months.”

The popular music store has partnered with Star Radio’s Star Talent – a weekly show on Tuesday nights showcasing local musicians and bands.  Simon said: “Cambridge is brimming with new music talent of all ages and to be involved with a show like Star Talent, which highlights the local untapped music genius, is a privilege.  The partnership is a natural match.”

 Millers Music Still Going Strong

Millers Music was in Barry Robinson’s family for 150 years and Simon has worked closely with Barry in the past year to build on the success of the former owners for the benefit of another generation.  While two other Cambridge music stores have closed, this  past year has heralded a fresh new look and modern outlook, as well as extended and improved stock for Millers.

One year on since taking the reins at Millers, Simon commented: “I am very grateful to have Barry’s guidance having run the business for 38 years himself.  With his support, we have built on our combination of specialist in-store music experts, unrivalled range of instruments and unique credit and rental offers.  As a result, we have been successful in developing and cementing Millers Music’s positioning as the leading music store in East Anglia.

“From its early years, Millers Music has been frontrunners in new technology, selling early gramophones in their hundreds to the forces for use in the trenches during the First World War.  Fast forward nearly 100 years and Millers is still at the forefront of music technology ensuring its customers have the latest instruments to test in-store.”
