Mills & Reeve appointed to new NHS Property Services legal panel

Mills & Reeve has been appointed to the new legal panel for NHS Property Services Limited.

NHS Property Services Limited, which is owned by the Secretary of State for Health, is streamlining the number of legal advisers working across the organisation and has just concluded a formal procurement process to establish a new legal framework.

Mills & Reeve has been appointed as the sole corporate and commercial advisor and will advise on strategic, corporate and commercial matters over the next two years at least with effect from 1 May 2014.

Bridget Archibald, head of health at Mills & Reeve, said: “We are delighted to be appointed as core advisors in relation to strategic, corporate and commercial matters. Following on from our involvement with the property transfer project last year we are looking forward to working with NHS Property Services Limited in relation to its further development as the owner and manager of all NHS primary and community estate.

“Our diverse range of experts will be able to support across a number of disciplines, including commercial disputes and judicial reviews, procurement, public and private projects, tax, insurance, information governance, technology, health and safety and regulatory work."

NHS Property Services Limited owns the legal title to assets worth £3 billion and employs more than 3,000 staff across England. The company runs and manages the estate on behalf of NHS England and Clinical Commissioning Groups, which covers over 4,000 properties from GP surgeries and health centres to administrative buildings. ________________________________________
