Neil Burton (pictured), who will lead Mills & Reeve’s new charity team, has already been instrumental in winning work from the British Council, Macmillan Cancer Care and the British Museum and is hoping to develop the firm’s range of charity clients, especially in the higher education and health sectors. Neil trained at Mills & Reeve and is based in Cambridge. He is also a Notary Public.
Duncan Astill becomes a partner serving health clients in the eastern region. He joined Mills & Reeve in 2009 from Bevan Brittan LLP. Duncan specialises in patient related work and health and safety issues and is a trusted adviser to several chief executives of health bodies in London and the eastern region. Mills & Reeve has a highly rated (Band B, Chambers) healthcare team of over 100 lawyers. Duncan joins Gill Thomas in the Cambridge office where he will be helping clients in the public and private sectors deal with the challenges created by the changes in the NHS.
Virginia Edgecombe is a private tax specialist based in Norwich. Virginia joined Mills & Reeve in 2003 from the City firm Travers Smith Braithwaite. The firm is long-established as leading private client lawyers and Virginia will help to maintain and develop Mills & Reeve’s pre-eminent position in this sector. She is already well-known in the eastern region market and her appointment underlines the firm’s commitment to its national private client brand.
