Multi-faceted media a ‘must’ for small businesses

In 2013, most small businesses are aware of the importance of a strong online presence and the ability well-managed social media has to drive traffic to your website. However, with an infinite number of channels to explore, it is increasingly difficult for business owners to prioritise which online tools to utilise.

Largely the success of online campaigns is the ability to engage users, avoiding hard sell, resulting in more lasting connections which in turn often become sales. Multi-faceted engagement is key and the use of video is becoming increasingly popular for small business owners. A video is 53 times more likely to appear on the first page of Google than a website containing just text.

Fresh, high-quality video content not only boosts SEO rankings but also raises brand awareness, and engages both existing clients and potential users. Often putting a face to your name adds a personal touch, and is what distinguishes your business from the big guys.

Jonathan, Creative Director of Pepper Rafferty, who has recently directed programmes such as the Million Pound Drop believes; “For a business nothing is more engaging or has more of an impact on increased sales and bookings quite like a video, yet this can often be expensive for small businesses.”

The reason why, in true collaborative fashion, local web video producers Pepper Rafferty have teamed up with the Cambridge Business Lounge to hold a Web Video for Small Businesses production day, giving business owners the unique opportunity to work with experts to create a professional video for use across their website and social media channels.

Ed, founder of Cambridge Business Lounge continues; “Videos are almost twice more likely to be shared on Facebook than images or text. Often, clients use their video to kick-start their company’s YouTube channel or Vimeo page, which if well-managed can be incredibly successful in driving traffic to their site.”

The session requires little preparation as no script is required.  Each video is filmed as a Q&A session in front of a green screen which will be populated with a logo, product or any other visual that is supplied. The session lasts for 15 minutes and participants will have their edited web video within three working days of the recording, ready for them to share with existing, lapsed and prospective customers across all channels.

Web Video for Small Businesses production day is next Wednesday 20 February at Cambridge Business Lounge, 52 Burleigh Street, Cambridge and is priced at £85 (including VAT).
