Tom’s Trust provides mental health, wellbeing and psychological support to children and their families in the East of England and North East.
Throughout the pandemic, providing support was challenging for Tom’s Trust clinical psychologists and the service had to be reconfigured and offered remotely, like many others. The new funding from The National Lottery Community Fund will help to ensure we can continue to provide support virtually, but also enable us to go back to face-to-face cognitive assessments to support children throughout their treatment and beyond.
Cognitive assessments are a key tool in ensuring children reach their full potential. Our support helps these children retain as much cognitive function as possible and we see improvements in 100% of the children we support in their cognitive and emotional states.
Early intervention with the support Tom's Trust provides reduces the likelihood of long-term disabilities (NHS England Neuro-rehabilitation service specification 2014) and provides the best chance for children to get back to school, resume their lives and go on to achieve their full potential.
