National recognition for ARU’s bold new look

Anglia Ruskin University’s bold new brand has received a silver award in the category of Best Visual Identity in the Education Sector at the national awards held by Transform magazine.

ARU was also highly commended in the Best Brand Evolution category following its 2019 rebranding exercise, assisted by agency Rufus Leonard, which saw the introduction of a new logo, colour scheme and new photography incorporating elements of ARU’s history and heritage.

The Transform Awards saw entries from many well-known companies across all sectors including Coca Cola, Channel 4, Chelsea Football Club and Coutts Bank. Entries were examined by a panel of expert judges, who determined those that set the benchmark in rebranding.

Professor Roderick Watkins, Vice Chancellor of ARU (pictured), said: “A lot of thought and hard work went into the new ARU brand, so we are delighted to receive this recognition at the Transform Awards. I would like to personally commend Rufus Leonard for their creativity, insight and support during the rebranding process.

“Our new brand allows us to celebrate our diverse communities while promoting our shared values and distinctive mission – and we are already seeing tangible benefits.

“As a significant regional university with a global outlook, it is vital that we celebrate our strengths, and the new brand shines a light on our determination to achieve brilliant outcomes for our students, while promoting game-changing research and innovative business partnerships.”

Brittany Golob, editor of Transform, said: “At the Transform Awards, shortlisted companies represent every sector and size of organisation, presenting a true benchmark for excellence in strategic brand work.

“The breadth of the shortlist exemplifies the broad spectrum of brand development work recognised by the awards, from visual design to tone of voice to wayfaring and signage. Every single company on that list deserves congratulations for delivering excellent, creative brand work. Congratulations to all of the 2020 Transform Awards winners.”
