New tech event series to help regional businesses drive digital transformation

CW (Cambridge Wireless) and Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Combined Authority (CPCA) launch a new series of events introducing 5G, Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Digital Twin technologies to business leaders in the region.

CW (Cambridge Wireless) in partnership with Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Combined Authority (CPCA) has launched a new series of online events aimed at business leaders in the region looking to explore new technologies to accelerate growth and gain an edge for the future.

“New technologies, New Opportunities” virtual webinars will welcome industry experts  introducing key technologies with transformative potential – 5G, Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Digital Twins – allowing companies to rethink their business models around new opportunities, using the application of emerging technology as an enabler.

“The global COVID-19 crisis has exposed digital connectivity as the new must-have for 21st Century business. Necessity is the mother of invention and companies are now having to work, communicate and trade in new ways, with digital know-how underpinning many of these changes. The Combined Authority is leading efforts to bounce the region beyond mere recovery and into transformation. These online events champion thought leadership in technology and knowledge-swapping within our region, helping participants explore and share advances and best practice,” said James Palmer, Mayor of Cambridgeshire & Peterborough. “Innovation is key and ‘virtual networking’ like this - to share knowledge, ideas, technologies and skills  -  supports our commitment to economic resurgence, ensuring the ‘new normal’ is something better than the old one, defined by fresh ideas and a will to come back stronger.”

“As the facilitator for this series of events, I believe now is the time for companies across various industry sectors to consider the business possibilities arising from a number of key emerging technologies. As always, there is both opportunity and potential threat from the disruptive nature of new technology,” said Peter Whale, Founder & CEO of Vision Formers and CW Board Member. “I believe that businesses in the region are strongly placed to be the ones who create significant new business opportunities, grasping the incredible potential, innovating, and building strong partnerships with the significant local technology cluster, where many of these new technologies are imagined, created and first brought to market.”

The first event in this virtual series held  this week on Thursday 23 July 2020 and led by Zahid Ghadialy, Senior Director, Strategic Marketing at Parallel Wireless UK & EMEA and Peter Whale, will introduce 5G technology, the next generation of wireless communications, set to provide a massive step change in the digitisation of all businesses and wider society over the next decade.

All webinars in the “New technologies, New Opportunities” series are free to attend and businesses are invited to join the conversation on social media using #CWCPCA hashtag.
