With doctoral research currently being conducted in film and media studies, illustration, fashion, fine art, typography and graphic design, THEOREM promises to be as diverse as it is engaging.
The exhibition will include work focusing on the poetic features of multi-dimensional language and cultural responses to participation in the arts, as well as question the influence of the artist.
THEOREM will be launched with a symposium, theory:practice, which will give the researchers opportunity to discuss their work, while keynote speakers Katy MacLeod, Reader of Fine Art at Kingston University London, and Professor of Photography Mark Durden, of the University of South Wales, will talk about the issues and challenges surrounding practice-based research.
Jane Boyer, Postgraduate Student Coordinator at Anglia Ruskin’s Cambridge School of Art, said: “This free symposium will cover lots of interesting topics and look at the tangible realities of practice-led research, such as how theory relates to practice and how practice forms theory.”
The theory:practice symposium takes place at Anglia Ruskin’s Cambridge campus on 7 July. It is free to attend, but booking is essential.
THEOREM runs from 7-21 July in the Ruskin Gallery. Entry is free and the Ruskin Gallery is open to the public from 10am-4.30pm, Monday-Saturday.
