Your Hospice Lottery has worked in partnership with the Arthur Rank Hospice since 2011, having since raised more than £700,000 for the Charity; helping to fund services delivered from its Great Shelford facility and across Cambridgeshire via the Arthur Rank Community Team.
The Your Hospice Lottery team are now in the Wisbech area, appealing for those who would like to play for just £1 per number per week. There are over 130 weekly cash prizes guaranteed, ranging from £1000 down to £10, plus a rollover jackpot, which if not won increases by £250 each week up to a maximum of £10,000.
Those cared for at the centre include adults with conditions such as heart disease, motor neurone disease and cancer. Treatment is provided through day therapy and clinical days (including blood transfusions and oncology work) with the multi-disciplinary team also delivering complementary and diversional therapies, bereavement and support services and supporting patients and their families through outpatient visits.
Matron and Clinical Nurse Specialist, Michelle Knight who manages the Treatment Centre, explains how popular she hopes the weekly lottery will be: “We and our patients are thrilled that Your Hospice Lottery is now able to offer those living in our area the option to play this £1 per week lottery, which not only gives them a chance to win £1000 but will help us to keep raising the vital funds needed to offer our full range of services, free of charge to all those who need it, week after week. Many of our patients and their families have already signed up as they understand the very real impact our care has on their daily lives and we hope those living in the local area will soon follow suit. It really is awin-win result for all who choose to take part!”
A staggering £8 million has been raised so far by Your Hospice Lottery, which works with nine other hospices around the country. The lottery exists to raise funds for hospice care, making a massive difference to people living with life limiting and life threatening conditions. Owned and run by St Helena Hospice in Colchester, it enables players to select which individual hospice they wish to support with their membership. By working in collaboration with the other hospices, the lottery’s overheads and costs are kept to a minimum so more funds raised can be used to directly benefit patients and their families.
Alex Howe, Head of Lottery, adds: “Your Hospice Lottery has proved extremely popular in and around Cambridge since it launched a partnership with Arthur Rank Hospice Charity six years ago, having since raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for the Hospice’s care and services. We are delighted to be able to now extend the lottery to the area covered by the Alan Hudson Day Treatment Centre and can’t wait to see winners emerging soon from Wisbech, Fenland and the surrounding areas.”
