Jamie Hacker Hughes, Visiting Professor at Anglia Ruskin’s Veterans and Families Institute (VFI), has been made a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences, the national academy of academics, learned societies and practitioners in the social sciences.
The Academy aims to promote excellence in research and to represent the interest of social science in the UK to government at local and national level. It also recognises the contribution of outstanding social scientists.
Professor Hacker Hughes has a national and international reputation in the field of military psychology and is the current President of the British Psychological Society. He is a former Head of Clinical Psychology for the Ministry of Defence. In 2014, he co-founded the VFI at Anglia Ruskin.
Professor Hacker Hughes said: “I'm really thrilled with the conferment of this award and very privileged to have been nominated too, as there are only 1,000 social scientists in the Academy. It's a great honour for me personally, for psychology and for Anglia Ruskin.”
