Prototype Projects clebrates the fifth anniversary of its 3D Printing Suite

On this day – 8th July – in 2016, Prototype Projects' 3D Printing suite was opened by local MP, Sir Oliver Heald. The 2,000 sq. ft. 3D Printing suite more than doubled the overall size of the firm's facilities in Royston; it also extended its range of services and its capacity.

The team writes:

Five years later, our company has continued to grow and expand both its offering and its capacity. In 2020 we quietly celebrated our 40th anniversary as the country, indeed the world, was catapulted into the pandemic.

Since opening the suite, we have invested in additional SLS and SLA machines as well as a Figure 4 machine, which delivers ultra-high print speed along with the quality and accuracy our customers have come to expect from Prototype Projects.

CNC Express launch

Our 3D Printing offering is complemented by our CNC machining department. Headed by CNC Manager, Ian Reinemann, we expanded our team to enable us to run a two-shift work pattern. This enabled us to launch our CNC Express service level in 2020, benefiting our customers with three-day dispatch. The CNC Express service level sits alongside our 3D Printing Express service level which offers next day dispatch for customers.

The future

As we all adapted to the ‘new normal’, as it was called, in 2020, our management team adopted a much more strategic approach to the business.

Justin Pringle, owner and MD of Prototype Projects, said: “It’s a very exciting time for us all at Prototype Projects. As a team, we have developed an ambitious 10-year business plan which will see Prototype Projects expand and grow as never before. We are in close discussions with a number of strategic partners to enable us to realise our vision and, as key milestones are reached, we look forward to sharing news of the latest developments with our customers.”
