Qualcomm and Tencent QQ collaborate to bring watch QQ experiences to Snapdragon Wear Platforms

Qualcomm® Snapdragon Wear Platforms now power more than 30 4G LTE connected Smartwatches for kids around the world.

Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., a subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM), and Tencent QQ announced that the two companies worked together to bring the popular QQ communication service to wearables powered by Qualcomm® Snapdragon Wear Platforms by announcing Watch QQ, an optimized version of QQ for smartwatches. The fast growing QQ social platform is favored by Chinese young people, and provides instant messaging, news, entertainment and payment functions to more than 800 million users.

Watch QQ for kid smart watches offers new features including Touch-to-Touch and High-Quality voice chat and video chat on Snapdragon Wear platforms. This optimized user experience includes a re-vamped, intuitive and easy-to-use UI, rich and interactive use cases, and a fast-responsive experience. Touch-to-Touch allows consumers to easily and seamlessly exchange their contact information by merely having their kid smartwatches come in contact with each other. High-Quality voice chat and video chat experiences bring rich VoIP-based services with convenient voice input capability and rich emojis to wearable devices. Tencent QQ plans to bring additional features such as Qzone Feeds, QQSports red packet, and parental controls in upcoming updates.

At MWC Shanghai, Qualcomm Technologies and Tencent QQ highlighted a number of wearable products deploying the new Watch QQ for kid smartwatches. These devices include the 360 S1, CMCC C4, and Kido X3 based on Snapdragon Wear 2100 and the Mobvoi TicWatch Kids based on Snapdragon Wear 2500 platforms.

Qualcomm Technologies is a clear leader in powering the connected 4G smartwatch for kids segment and revealed that there are now more than 30 kid smartwatches, based on the Snapdragon Wear platforms, shipping around the world from such brands as 360, Anda, BBK, CMCC, Coolpad, infomark, Mobvoi, Kido, LG U+, Linktop, Moda Inc., Shenzhen Continental Wireless Technology Co., Ltd, TCL, Verizon and Vodafone.
